Volutta’ brut sparkling wine from wine farm “Le tende”

sassaasfGenuine appearance, quality and unique of its wines are the characteristics of the wines of the farm “Le tende””. The wines obtained through methods of craftsmanship closely related to the wine-growing traditions of the Garda are grown on more than clay soil plots, ideal environment for native red varieties and white grape and for the international varieties.

This is how the Bianco di Custoza (white), the Bardolino Classico (red), the Bardolino Classico Chiaretto (rosé) and the Bardolino Classico Superiore (superior red) are born: all excellent and typical wine products of the region. Let us not forget the two red Bordeaux-like blends, the Merlot and Cicisbeo, nor the sweet desert wine Amoroso.

These are extraordinary creations of Franco Lucillini. He is an entrepreneur and a designer. In fact, he enhances the appearance of the bottles by designing their labels with the same passion that is used to produce the wine.

A vast estate called “Villa Le Tende” used to extend itself over the enchanting environment of Lake Garda in the Veneto region. This Venetian villa was built in 1880 and the Count of Bevilacqua used to live there. Currently, the villa is surrounded by two hectares of parkland where big lindens and century-old cedars are growing.

It is an elegant sparkling wine with a delicate and subtle perlage. The nose stands in striking floral mediterranean bouquet. Lingering finish gives character and balance. Ideal with sushi and fish first.


Conte Vistarino Pernice 2012, elegant and authentic wine

ottavia-de-giorgi-di-vistarino-_-300-dpiCarlo Giorgi di Vistarino was one of the first  to introduce the pinot nero grape to the Oltrepo Pavese between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, going on to win awards in both London and Paris for the sparkling wines thus produced.

Owner of an extensive estate in Rocca de’Giorgi for many centuries, the family has long played an active role in enhancing the quality of the wines of the Valle Scuropasso, by using the best of state-of-the-art technology.
In so doing, they considerably have help enhance the reputation of the wines of the Oltrepo Pavese, the area to the south of Pavia.

 His work was taken further by Ottaviano and Carlo, and is today in the hands of Ottavia Giorgi di Vistarino.

We tasted: PERNICE 2012

It’s a fruity and spicy wine. In the mouth it is warm, full, not so  brusque  although maintaining  its strong personality.  The filigree and weft are always those typical of the Pernice cru, however it is almost an ‘ideal’ wine, being analytically and chemi cally more balanced compared to the typical expres sion of the territory.

It is perfect with rustic tastes and seasoned cheese.


Rio Bravo, “Espumante” from Brazil

quemsomos_img_2We are in in Serra Gaucha in the south of Brazil a region renowned for its excellent wines and natural beauty.

The history of the Mioranza Winery begins in 1964, when the Italian family Mioranza begins with the cultivation of vines in the town Flores da Cunha town.

Achieving excellence in winemaking was the focus of Vinícola Mioranza not only having the best grapes, climate and soil but also relying on the tradition of its ancestors combined with modern processes and equipment for the perfect winemaking.

Over the years, Mioranza underwent several stages of improvement. The grape production is almost entirely in its own vineyards.

Investment in advanced technology, which includes equipment used in cultivation, modern analysis techniques and product storage, is also a factor that adds even more quality. In each bottle of wine there is a bit of its history, making all the wines have their characteristic so unique and striking.

In a region with excellent climate, soil and grapes, could only be born special wines.

Rio Bravo Brut

This sparkling wine is made with a mixture of fine grapes Chardonnay, Riesling Italic and Pinot Noir, which give floral and fruit aromas, structure and body.

It Is straw yellow coloration with greenish reflections, clear visual appearance. The nose is fruity with scents of pineapple, green apple and pear. In the mouth is soft and with good freshness. It has balanced acidity and a surprising aftertaste.

Rio Bravo Moscatel

This “Espumante” is made by a mixture of fine grapes Moscato, Giallo and Alexandria, which give floral and fruit aromas, structure and body to the sparkling wine. It appears very straw yellow with scent of fruits such as peach, vanilla, flowers and spices. It is very fresh in the mouth. Perfect with fish, shellfish and white meat.

Rio Bravo Demi-sec

produto_1941156The Demi-Sec basically is a mixture of grapes Chardonnay, Riesling Itálico and Pinot Noir.

The aroma is composed of fruits like apricot, prune and candied fruits.

It is fresh and soft with balanced acidity and pleasant aftertaste. Ideal with spaghetti  and grilled chicken.



Vintage 2014 underlines the difference between the traditional vineyards of central Tuscany and Ornellaia’s Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon rich vineyards on the coast.

Coming primarily from the Estate’s younger vineyards and made with the same passion and attention to detail as Ornellaia, Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia is a true “second vin”. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot, Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia combines generosity and depth of flavour with an engaging and vibrant personality.

2014 will be remembered in Tuscany for the summer that never was and as one of the most unusual. A warm and rainy winter was followed by a mild and dry spring, a distinctively average July and a cold and rainy August. All of this created difficult conditions for the ripening of the grapes. September and October, however, brought perfect conditions, with mostly sunny and dry weather, offering excellent conditions for ripening, particularly for Merlot.

While we had an incredible amount of extra work to do in the vineyard, the combination of the Estate’s varied subsoils, the varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot and our own detailed knowledge of the terroir all played distinctively in our favour. Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia underlines the fundamental difference in terroir between the coast and the central Tuscan vineyards.

“A late vintage with a long period of ripening, 2014 presented us with wines that generate a great amount of pleasure. Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia 2014 has a ruby colour of medium intensity. On the nose it develops fresh crisp fruit aromas underpinned by fine notes of spice. The palate is of medium weight with notes of red berry fruit. The 2014 harvest will go down in history as one of the latest, starting on 6 September with the Merlot from young vines, and ending on 22 October with the last Cabernet Sauvignons.

The clusters were hand-picked into 15-kg boxes and then selected by hand on a double sorting table, before and after de-stemming, and finally gently crushed. Each variety and each parcel was vinified separately. Alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless steel, at temperatures of between 26° and 30°C for two weeks followed by maceration of around 10-15 days. Malolactic fermentation was started in stainless steel, and completed after transfer to barrels (25% new and 75% a year old). The wine remained in Ornellaia’s temperature-controlled cellar for a further 15 months. It was assembled after the first 12 months and then reintroduced in the barrels for a further 3 months. After bottling, it was aged for an additional six months prior to release.


Sinuelo winery. Brazilian wine … Italian heart

3a5234f23458ca0889a06a728fc5ca57 Since 1883, the Molon family settled in southern Brazil in the Serra Gaucha coming from the distant city of Arzignano in Veneto, from the very beginning has been dedicated to viticulture and the art of wine. From father to son, the raisin techniques were transmitted, understood and improved.

The search for superior products begins in the vineyards. All varieties grown from Molon brothers imported from Italy, were free of viruses and perfect in their composition. Including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Riesling and Moscato Giallo.

capturefggMoreover, the winery adopts the espalier system in its vineyards, which allows a better insolation of the clusters and results in a high standard of harvested grapes. It favors quality over quantity, which ensures a differentiated end product of excellence.
The Sinuelo winery began its activities in San Marcos in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in 1963 and has 12 hectares of its own vineyards.

The land has a northern front, with the presence of an adequate sunshine in the morning and in the afternoon.

We tasted:

Mistela Moscato giallo

0ba5ad30b23c223dffe7c9be072d1e26This wine comes from Moscato Giallo grapes from Italy and rigorously selected. The Mistela is aged for a long time and therefore has a high natural sugar content of ripe fruit harvested.

It shows a golden glow, the yellow highlights. Its aroma has a strong intensity, reminiscent of flowers, honey, ripe fruit, raisins and toasted something. The palate is equally rich, balanced, very elegant, sweet but fresh at the same time. It has a flavor reminiscent of the caramel is very complex and persistent.

Perfect in accompanying fine desserts with almonds, walnuts and chestnuts. It is a perfect end to the meal, even as a digestive.

Spumante brut metodo champenoise


Made from Chardonnay grapes (85%) and Riesling (15%), this sparkling wine has a light yellow color, intense and bead up, with creamy foam and persistent crown.

The scent reminds toast, jasmine, ripe fruit syrup, and pineapple.
In the mouth it has intense flavor is pleasantly cool, persistent and balanced.

It matches perfectly with white sauce penne, shrimp skewers, seafood, lobster, and grilled salmon.



Milantino wines: a year of awards

sfsfsfsfsfsfThis was a year full of successes for Milantino!  The quality and attention it give to its labels, and as a reward received national and international awards.

In Brazil Wine Challenge, which is Directed by the Brazilian Association of Oenology (ABE) and the magazine Adega, they were gathered labels of South Africa, Germany, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, United States, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal and Uruguay, consolidating its position as one of the most important in the Americas. The Milantino Gran Reserva 2005 was one of four wines to take the Great Gold Medal.

In the 14th selection of the best wines, sparkling wines and Garibaldi juices held by the Association of Winegrowers of Garibaldi, with the aim of consolidating every year the excellence of the products and the efficiency of enterprises showing prepared for the domestic capturefsfsfsdfand international markets.

The Milantino was awarded two gold medals, in our Red Wine Fine Ancellota 2006 and the Red Wine Fino Gran Vino 2008.

The Milantino Fine Wines was founded in 1989 with the philosophy of developing high quality and limited wines production .
Located in the beautiful Valley of the Vineyards in Bento Gonçalves, the Milantino elaborates wines with grapes grown in its own vineyards, under careful care, from the cultivation of the vines to the selection of grapes during harvest and winemaking.

Masseto 2013

Vintage 2013 will be remembered as one of the latest harvests in  history with particularly favorable growing conditions for Merlot.

The gentle breezes coming off the sea during the warm summer months, the intensity of the sunlight and the specificity of the unique soils, allow the vines to develop and ripen gradually and contribute to granting Masseto its enchanting combination of freshness and ripeness.

Masseto 2013, which is being released in this period,  is once again testimony to the unique alliance of terroir, climate and human talent determining its timeless value. This vintage will be remembered as one of the latest harvests in the history of Masseto to date”. Alex Belson, Director MASSETO

After a dry 2012, winter 2013 was characterized by mild but very rainy weather, which caused a delay in budding of up to 15 days. A cool, rainy spring also led to an irregular, very long flowering period, with  two-week delay compared to the average, which reduced the crop and resulted in uneven development of the grapes. Fortunately the summer, which arrived punctually at the end of June, was perfect, dry and sunny, with a few peaks of heat in July and August. The slow vegetative development was ultimately beneficial because it deferred ripening until after the hottest period. The August storms significantly lowered temperatures, especially at night, which favoured aromatic expression. This however led to a later than average harvest, which started on 12 September with the “Masseto Alto” vineyard parcel and concluded on 25 September with the last parcel of “Masseto Centrale”, with predominantly sunny weather

without excessive heat.

“Masseto 2013 is the result of an overall late, fresh weather during the harvesting period. These are particularly favorable conditions for Merlot, which was able to ripen slowly and completely in sunny weather, without excessive heat. These conditions enhanced full expression of the aromatic qualities and perfect ripening of the polyphenolic content. Intense ruby in colour, the nose immediately reveals fully ripe fruitiness endowed with great freshness and complexity, underlined by delicate notes of vanilla and cocoa. On the palate, the wine is substantial and rich, with great density, and a rare tannic quality of silkiness and smoothness. Black fruit aromas are accompanied by a strong note of freshness and a long, elegant finish, which is prolonged with a delicate hint of cocoa”. Axel Heinz, Winemaker and Estate Director MASSETO

The clusters, hand-picked in 15 kg boxes, were graded and selected by hand on a double sorting table before and after de-stemming, and then gently pressed. Each of the four vineyard blocks was vinified separately. Fermentation took place in either steel or wooden vats, followed by maceration for 15-20 days at a temperature of between 25 and 30°C. Malolactic fermentation was started in 100% new oak barrels, keeping the different lots separate for the first 12 months of maturation. The final blend was subsequently assembled and reintroduced in the barrels for a further year, for an overall  total of 24 months. After bottling, the wine was aged for an additional 12 months prior to release.
