Sauvignon Blanc „Mathias“ by Pfitscher

Pinot Nero and Sauvignon Blanc are the main grape varieties that in recent years have allowed Pfitscher to be so appreciated in the wine scene. In autumn a new wine will be presented, unique and in limited quantities: the Sauvignon Blanc “Mathias” 2016.

Named after the founder of the Pfitscher Estate, Mathias reflects a grand cru according to the Burgundian model: an authentic “terroir wine”. Land rich in life and minerality, optimal microclimate, old vines and a work in the meticulous vineyard, carried out with strictly natural techniques: all fundamental factors that, in synergy, give life to Mathias.

We find these ideal conditions in the Cru “Katrhreinerfelder” in Fiè allo Sciliar, at 900 m of altitude. In good years this vineyard produces between 1,500 and 2,000 bottles of an excellent wine. Sauvignon Blanc “Mathias” made its debut during the most important trade fairs in Europe and was premiered to a small circle of journalists, thus confirming its extraordinary characteristics of quality and exclusivity.

The Pfitscher family has worked hard to create a great wine, able to seduce by structure, minerality and elegance, like the most famous wines in the world. The “Mathias” 2016 Sauvignon Blanc wine is available in a limited edition of only 1,850 bottles at specialized dealers starting in October.

Poggio Lupo, Della Luna Merlot 2016

The wine estate Poggio Lupo is a young company founded from the dream of Massimo, Manuela and Marco Morgante.

The farm is located in the municipality of Allerona, in the province of Terni (Italy). The territory is characterized by the presence of clay-sandy soils comprising gray-blue clays, dating to the lower middle-sized pliocene. The vineyard stretches for about 32 hectares and is placed in a natural amphitheater with a south-eastern exposure that allows a great solar irradiation throughout the day.

The vineyard is made up of international varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, Merlot Cabernet, Sauvignon and Petit verdot. The wines of Poggio Lupo derive from sustainable agriculture for a clientele attentive to the environmental issues in the search for products coming from a low impact agriculture and respectful of nature.

We tasted:

Della Luna Merlot 2016

It is a ruby red wine with purple shades. The olfactory bouquet features sweet spicy scents and red cherry and black berries. In the mouth is well balanced and of good persistence.

This wine is aged for 6 months in steel with batonnage on fine lees and for at least 3 months in bottle.

For the food pairing it is ideal with traditional Umbrian dishes like croutons with liver pans, salami, and semi-matured cheeses and with the stuffed cake (Capocollo, sausage, sausage and vegetables).

Wonderful white wines at Aigner winery #wine #aigner #krems #austria

Sauvignon Blanc 2014 is produced by the well-known Weingut Aigner wine estate, placed in the Austrian city Krems. Today Wolfgang Aigner manages the company, whose tradition and values have been passed on nine generations, since the beginning of the 18th century. The company produces around 60,000 bottles of wine every year.

The winery also offers a guesthouse opened in 1999, where you can use leisure facilities, take part to winery tours, wine tastings and even watch or participate in the grape harvest.

Sauvignon Blanc 2014 is a really high quality white wine, made by the typical Aigner style. Aigner wines are strong in aroma, but also fresh and fruity, as Sauvignon Blanc. A crispy, zesty, medium-bodied white wine.

We really have appreciated its exceptional charming characteristic, flower aroma, and herbaceous tones. Its savory taste is made of medium acidity, very profound at the same time, with a great aftertaste.

Due to the wine herbal fragrances, it is ideal to join with similar green herbs, as parsley, rosemary, basil, coriander or mint. Perfect food pairings are white meats, seafood, cheese and vegetables too.

Riesling Kremstal DAC Weinzierlberg 2014 trocken is a fantastic white riesling with lemon notes, long, persistent with body and elegance. The way how this winemaker goes at work for this riesling is fantastic. You’ll be experiencing an exceptional moment while tasting this riesling.
